We will make it!

Yay! New business cards came in. So very excited they came in because we will be working hard to promote our little store on Big Cartel locally as well as on line. It's all about the brand and your exposure. Our goal is that I become a work from home Mami so pushing our brand is what I have to do in order to succeed. Then yes, I will step up to achieve this dream and make it our reality.

I had so much fun repurposing these necklaces, but I am so critical of my work. Thanks to my loving hubby who is helping me see that I am way to critical of my work. The support of my family means a lot so if hubby says its great then I am going to trust it. Their support is even encouraging me to do some classes that customers have asked me to do! So stay tuned I will update you all about the classes.

New in the shop!
$25 Sugar Skull Necklace & Earrings set

$12 Winged heart with key and sea green beads.

$15 Sugar Skull , purple keys with kitty and Fuschia  beads.

$12 Aqua beads with blue key kitty earrings. I can't wait for my shippment of skulls, keys, ohms and mermaids come in. I have some new earrings floating in my head.

Do you like the reconstruction of our Big Cartel store? We are trying to bring more colorful pieces into the spot light. Also I am a very pastel fairy mermaid type of girl and I feel the shop needs to reflect that better. So please check back in a few weeks to see my new whimsical line. If you follow @craftyowlmama on Instagram and you'll get to have a sneak peek since I post all of my art there!

Thanks for stoping by.

Remember to spread love and light! A kind word or an unexpected smile can be worth millions!

Art in my town!

When I got this invite it was perfectly timed, because Saturday kicks off my 4 days off from work!
I am such a fan of Tilted Art & Gifts but I usually have to work when there's an Art / Wine walk. So once again Yay me I get to go to the wine walk.I love to see what other artist are creating and to check out local artist is a highlight.

Julie Fluke is the awesome owner of the Tilted Art & Gifts. If eclectic beauty in many mediums tickle your fantasy then come on down to 417 S. Holladay Dr. There are so many artists on display at the Tilted Art & Gifts and Julie has a creative way in which she has arranged them. I would call it a rainbow of  art.

When you walk in you feel like home. It's kinda like that cool Artsy Aunt's house that always have something new to drool over and the kitchen has great snacks.
No this is only out for the Art/Wine Walk but when she puts out treats, them come from her heart. So yes she baked those treats and brewed the coffee/tea.

Jewelry and artists revolve, evolve and change constantly. Please continue to check back as her site grows with her artists. More photos are available on Tilted Art & Gifts Facebook page.

Waves of Blessings!

Saturdays for me is about that mother ocean energy.
I live so close to the ocean but with the rain it makes it hard to visit the ocean as often as I like. My heart sings when I get a visit and my creative energy gets a rejuvenating boost. I have always had a strong attraction to the ocean. Since I can remember I told people my real mother lives in the ocean. Funny how things come full circle. In 2000 I learned how true that statement was. My Spiritual mother Is Yemaya and she takes care of me like no other!

Maferefun Yemaya!
(Needle work in progress Inspired by a image I found on google)

Yemayá (also spelled Yemoja, Iemoja, or Yemaya) is one of the most powerful Orishas. She is the mother of all living things, rules over motherhood and owns all the waters of the Earth. She gave birth to the stars, the moon, the sun and most of the Orisha. Yemaya makes her residence in life-giving portion of the ocean (although some of her roads can be found in lagoons or lakes in the forest). Yemaya’s aché is nurturing, protective and fruitful. Yemaya is just as much a loving mother Orisha as she is a fierce warrior that kills anyone who threatens her children. So glad she is my guardian !

So out of love and respect of her I share with you one of my bath & body recipes that nurture the Mind Body & Spirit!

  • 1 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1 cup Rock Sea Salt
  • 1/2 cup Baking Soda
  • 3 drops Spearmint Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Gardenia Essential Oil
  • 2 drops Honey Dew Essential Oil (hard find but worth it!)
  • 20 drops Extra Olive Oil
  • 2 drops green food coloring
  • 1 drops Blue food coloring
  • 1 gallon ziplock bag

Instructions:

Pour the salts and baking soda in a glass bowl. Mix together.

Slowly add essential oils while mixing salts. Please make sure to mix well. Now add food coloring and mix well. Be careful to really stir the bottom color tends to lump there if you are going for a uniform color.

Pour all in ziplock bag and lay flat. This helps it dry without lumps. After 24 hrs place in a mason jar for storage.

After 24 hrs in ziplock bag your salts should only be slightly moist.

Well there you go. I hope you try this, it leaves your skin feeling so soft and the essential oils bring a smile to your heart! Kinda feels like you're wrapped in the oceans embrace.

Stay tune and STAY CRAFTY!

Mami's sweet honey treats

Today is Friday and that means its "Mami's sweet honey treats,"

I am using a 1.5 liter water bottle.
My Mami Ann was the eye ball Queen , which means I guesstimate everything.

In my 1.5 liter water bottle I added

1cup sliced strawberries (fresh)
Half a lemon
7 basil leaves chopped
A pinch of cayenne pepper
1 tsp of Organic Honey

Growing up in the Bay Area , hot summers meant Miss Ann ( that is what all the neighbors called her) was concocting something scrumptious in the kitchen. Here on Crafty Owl Mama Escapades I plan to share every Friday one of her recipes. Miss Ann adopted me at birth and we had a very complex relationship that turn to true understanding and respect towards the end of her life in 2001. She instilled in me a wealth of cooking and baking recipes. She also instilled a since of community sharing as well.

If Miss Ann was cooking then the neighbors were coming over. I can recall feuding neighbors coming together for one of her cookouts. No one left empty handed or wanting! I am working on being in a community that I can bring this sharing to it.

During the spring I start drinking this daily and yes my waist shrinks and my skin glow. Could be the drink or could just be a 1.5 liter of water that really flushes my system. The weight loss could also be contributed to the many trips to the bathroom, but whatever it is it works for me. Also it brings pleasant  memories of a Great Lady whom I miss with all my heart.

Lemons: help with digestion and aid in fighting wrinkles (hello!?)

Strawberries: dietary fiber helps with digestion, lowers blood pressure, helps overeating, anti-inflammatory

Limes: skin care, digestion, constipation, weight loss, gout

Basil:  stress reliever, clearing your skin

Try some it is a great alternative to soda!

Maferfun Shango!

Maferefun Shango!

Maferefún means "praises to the spiritual energy of" in Yoruba/ Lucumi. So I say on the tip of my toes Maferefun Shango with all my love. Today has started off as an amazing day full of spirit, art, family and prosperity. Shango has guided me in business many times before but unfortunately I am just now understanding where he is taking me. Today, with that new understanding I have confident in my crafts and we are going to take MerPrince Closet to the next level. I am seeing clearer the direction our future pieces will be going as well. That direction will be heavy on Dia de Los Muertos meets Sirena's mundo.  Day of the dead and mermaids are my two favorites and when I combine them my heart sings. So once again thank you Papa Shango for reminding me to do what I love and the rest will fall in place.

Your own head can be your worst enemy and I truly believe that. Realizing that the lack of confidence is what is holding me back makes it easier to break free. Crazy I know, but to realize its you that's holding you back in my opinion can be an easy fix and if that is the only thing holding me , then watch out world here I come.

Today Shango also reminded me that my favorite thing is to spread love and light. So on that Note I would like to announce our first pay-it-forward giveaway!

Happy Beltane!

First day of May seemed like a great day to launch our plan to spread love and light.

This is a little scary but if we make our goal then this step will be well worth stepping out of our comfort zone. After some long discussion Lucas and I decided to launch a fund campaign on the gofundme website! I have watched a few people fund a goal this way , but thought Lucas who is very private would not want to do this.

Well a good scare of being in the ICU changed both our minds. We were truly blessed being able to do what we did with limited resources. But I truly believe it was Mr & Mrs God showing us being closer to family, better medical care, artistic community and more opportunities was on our path now.

I have learned so much here on the Oregon coast but it is time for Roarke to have strong family ties, like his older brothers had growing up. Also time for me to utilize these skills I have acquired here in Oregon to benefit my family and a community open for new ideas!

Someone told me I glowed when I taught others and that I spread that light and love to all in my life. I didn't really understand at that time that Spreading love and light is the calling I have been searching for. I am hoping to incorporate my advocating/mentoring with my arts and crafts to benefit the community my family lives in Arizona. The biggest part of this hope is to be able to do this base from my home.

I currently work full time as an Assistant Manager of a retail store and I do my handmade crafts when I am not working. I have had success with online stores but I was a work from home Mom durning that success, so I know with a little start up I can do this for my family.

We have created a logo that we will post on Cinco de Mayo. That logo will be a new line for our Merprince Closet collection called Spread Love & Light! Stay tune to our Big Cartel store for our new designs of pendants, key chains, mixmedia paintings, journals, tote bags and tanks with the Spread Love & Light logo.

I am so excited for our pay-it-forward part of the Spread Love and Light campaign.
Tune into my next post when I explain the pay-it-forward project!

Stay Crafty and
always walk in Love and Light!
